Pickering Rotary recently held their annual fund raising event at the Spice 4 U restaurant in Pickering. It was very well supported with some 140 guests sampling an array of Indian dishes. However, it was not just about the food There were a number of raffles throughout the day with the star prize being a ride, and photo shoot in a Dukes of Hazard General Lee 7.4 litre Dodge Charger courtesy of Steve Mead. A most successful day with £2000 raised for the Scarborough branch of the Samaritans, who cover the whole of the Ryedale area.
Sue Harris President of Pickering Rotary Club said “ I am delighted that this year the Samaritans are our chosen charity. They do fantastic work for something that affects all ages, and all sections of our local communities.”
Libby Lorton-Gilbert, director of Samaritans of Scarborough said 'We are extremely grateful to Pickering Rotary Club and Spice 4 U for raising this most generous amount, which will go a long way towards our £30,000 annual target, needed to keep our service active in the Scarborough and Ryedale areas. Thank you so much"
