Treasurer Michelle Lyall and Past President Alastair Scott visited Menzieshill Community Hub as part of our community outreach initiatives.
There are a number of community hubs in our city - others are at Charleston, Coldside, Mill o' Mains and Brooksbank. The visits were to understand the needs of these communities, some of which are in disadvantaged areas of the city.
Marie Dailly, head of neighbourhood services at Dundee City Council, facilitated these visits and we have supported two initiatives from these hubs, Food for Thought in Charleston and Feel Good Packs in Menzieshill.
A development youth work team who work with young people across the city, have discovered that toiletries are considered important items especially for teenagers who are conscious of their body image and self-esteem.
It is considered that with this help, many of these young people will more fully participate in education and youth activities and socialise with their peers.
Michelle and Alastair visited the Menzieshil hub where our club donated more than £800 worth of toiletry packs which will be distributed to young peop!e in the area.
Our Community Committee will continue to identify other needs across our city, in these hubs where we can help.
