Chair of Fundraising, Sarah Craig, was invited by CEO of Alzheimer Scotland Henry Simmons to a special lunch today at the charity’s Dundee base.
Sarah had the opportunity to meet with other local Fundraisers and speak to several of the service users of the Alzheimer Scotland centre in Morgan Street to see first hand where funds raised are being used.
The Rotary Club of Dundee have raised considerable sums for the charity over the years, most recently at our annual Charity Quiz Night.
Sarah said,
‘‘The work being undertaken by staff and carers at the centre is brilliant. Listening to family members give very personal accounts of how the charity has made life-changing differences to the lives of their loved ones was incredibly powerful and moving. I’m proud of the part the Rotary Club of Dundee Fundraising team and wider Club members have played and will continue to play in making a difference to those living with Alzheimer's in our community. This is such a valuable community hub and one that deserves our full backing and support.’’
Sarah was joined at the event by members of the Football Memories team, based at Hampden Park, who use football imagery as a way of triggering the memories of those living with Alzheimer's. The project was launched in 2009 and was only ever intended to run for a year but proved so successful it is now a staple project backed by Alzheimer Scotland and The Scottish Football Museum.
The Football Memories Team have agreed to come along to a future meeting to talk about their work.
