Each year, we gather together to say a big 'THANK YOU' to many of our volunteer groups and those who help us collect over the Christmas period, and to present grants from the record £23,500 collected in December 2024. Our guest was the Mayor of Halton, Councillor Kevan Wainwright who had also collected with us whilst out with the float.
59 applications from a diverse range of groups and individuals were successful and each received a grant during the evening. 150 people gathered together on what was a wonderful night of shared community, all of us wanting to 'make a difference'.
Two of those present, Pauline Ruth, from Trinity Safe Space, a support network for asylum seekers in Halton, and Aidan Jackson, our Rotary Young Citizen 2017, who has fundraised for 40 defibrillators for public use across Halton, were presented with a Paul Harris Fellow award, Rotary's highest honour, given to those who make a difference in their community. Both Pauline and Aidan do so much and are so deserving of their awards. Our congratulations go to them both!
