The Royal British Legion speakers were a husband and wife team Robin and Ann Thomas, Treasurer and Secretary of the Bedford Branch which is made up of twenty seperate branches. Our speakers joined the Legion in the 80's so have had plenty of experience. Robin took stage and detailed the history of RBL (initially know as the BL, only gained the Royal in later life) Formed by General Haig and he worked with another rank Mr Lister. They made agreat team and the organisation was successful. They raised money with the sale of poppies (£40 millinon+ at the last count in this year) Bedfordshire is in the running for the biggest increase of funds raised this year. They are likley to recieve their award at the RBL conference next week
In the week of the celebrations for the 80 Yeasr since Victory in Euraope it was entirely appropriate that RBL speakers peformed at the club. A very factual, interesting & professional presentation. Rtn Martin
