Weekly Club Meeting - Informal with Christmas Message

This meeting is an informal meeting during which a Christmas message will be delivered to the club membership by The Reverend Janice Aiton of St John’s, Dumfries

Janice hails from Ayrshire in Scotland and left her home place to study languages and history at Glasgow University.  After graduating, Janice accepted a post as a French and German Teacher in Kelvinside Academy in Glasgow. Janice was one of the first women to teach in the secondary sector of Kelvinside Academy, where she happily remained for 11 years.  
From 1991-2001 Janice worked as the Scripture Union Regional Field Worker in Edinburgh, Lothian and the Borders.  She studied theology at TISEC in Edinburgh and completed her Master of Theology at Edinburgh University.
Janice served as a curate in St Andrew’s Episcopal Church in St Andrews from 2001 to 2004.

 

There followed the role of Rector of Dunboyne and Rathmolyon Group of Parishes, in the Dioceses of Meath and Kildare, near Dublin in Ireland. This group of parishes comprises 3 rural and 3 urban churches.
Janice experienced various roles in her Dioceses, to mention a 
few, she was Rural Dean, Co-ordinator of Continual Ministerial Education for Curates in the South, All Ireland Chaplain of the Girls’ Friendly Society, and Church of Ireland Chaplain to the University of Maynooth. 
Janice served on the Diocesan Council for Meath and Kildare, plus the Board of Education, and also on the Episcopal College.

Janice enjoys working with different people, of all ages, from suburban and rural backgrounds so enabling them to use their talents as they follow Jesus, in faith and love. 
Janice began her post as Rector of St John the Evangelist on 14
th October 2017, and she is thoroughly enjoying parish life in St John’s and the rural nature of Dumfries with its easy access to larger towns and cities.
