President Mairhi Trickett welcomed
important guests to last week's meeting of the Rotary Club when she introduced
the High School's Head Pupils Katy Templeman and Frazer Towers and the District
Governor Andy Ireland. Katy and Frazer spoke eloquently and competently on
their school experiences to date and their ambitions for the future. The
District Governor Andy Ireland, Polmont Rotary Club is Governor of Addiewell
Prison and a former international rugby referee. He attended the
convention at San Diego recently with his wife and brought the Rotary message
for this year "be a gift to the world" and gave his hopes and expectations for
the Rotary year. Eradicate polio is still a major project and he was
pleased to announce that, as of last week, there are now only 51 cases of polio
worldwide and the aim is to eradicate it completely. President Mairhi gave
the vote of thanks to all three. Harald Willner, Kingston-upon-Thames was
also a visitor at the meeting.
