Club meeting focused on business progress and plans
At last week's meeting of the Rotary Club
it was with much sadness that President Jim Walker anounced the death of Harald
Willner peacefully at home in Effingham, Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey during the
night of 21st/22nd August. Harald, a retired businessman, had a holiday
flat in High Street, Hawick, and for the past 10 years had been a regular
visitor at the club. He was a member of Kingston-upon-Thames Rotary Club
and was very honoured last year when he was made an honorary member of the
Hawick Club. The evening took the form of a business meeting when relevant
and current matters were discussed. Linden Warburton, International
Convenor anounced that two schemes, one for £250 and the other for £200 were in
place in Malawi, Africa in the macro-finance scheme for two women's businesses
selling beads and groceries which helped them to support their families.
Gus Neilson, Foundation reported that support was being given to a hospice along
with Grahamstown Rotary Club, South Africa.
