The club met together at the Mansfield House Hotel for its weekly meeting. After the meal the club enjoyed an interesting presentation from Gordie Campbell on Burnfoot Grows Together. This is a two-year community project based at the Community Hub in Burnfoot which aims to address climate change in a very local way! They have developed a successful community garden growing fruit and vegetables for local use, combining this with workshops on gardening, cooking, environmental issues and waste reduction. They have also developed a free “Foodshare” stand at the Hub where a selection of donated and grown fruit and vegetables are available to take away. After questions and an invitation to visit the Hub, Gordon was thanked and President Linden Warburton closed the meeting.
