At last week's meeting, Rory Bannerman spoke to the Club about the Town of a Thousand Trails project. This aims to promote Hawick to members of the wider Outdoor Community who might be looking to walk, run, cycle, or horse ride in the TD9 area. A small group of locals has been developing the idea with a website and a YouTube video illustrating the many and varied opportunities which exist. Several questions regarding this ensued, and it was suggested that geocaching and even the involvement of the CWA trishaws could become part of the scheme. These were seen as illustrating the wide variety of experiences which were possible, catering for all ages and capabilities! A vote of thanks was given by Past President Tommy Mulvee.
The Club's Annual Charity Quiz took place at The Bridge Function Rooms the following evening when 13 teams took part in a closely fought contest, with the lead regularly changing. At the end, it was The Edge team of Margaret & George Scott, Christopher Tully and David Emmerson who took the spoils. It was quiz organiser Jim Walker's family team which took the booby prize. Over £260 was raised for Club charities such as Cycling Without Age.
