A cleaner, greener Llanelli: Working together to tackle litter

Llanelli is taking a stand against litter, and our community is leading the charge! Litter Out of Llanelli (LOOLl), an initiative launched by Llanelli Rotary Club in 2023, is bringing together organisations and individuals from across our town to create a cleaner, more beautiful environment for all.

LOOLl's approach is simple yet effective: we identify litter hotspots in our local communities and organise clean-up events. But it doesn't stop there - we also ensure that each cleared area has a dedicated group of local volunteers committed to keeping it litter-free in the long term. This sustainable model empowers our community to take ownership of our shared spaces and maintain their cleanliness.

The initiative showcases the power of collaboration. Foothold Cymru is overseeing the programme's management, with valuable support from Keep Wales Tidy and the local authorities. Local business Owens Group has generously provided high-visibility vests for our volunteers, ensuring their safety during clean-up operations.

Llanelli Rotary Club continues to lead by example, organising regular litter picks on our beautiful beach and at various hotspots around town. These events not only clean up our community but also raise awareness about the importance of proper waste disposal.

By working together, we're not just removing litter - we're fostering a sense of pride in our town and building stronger community bonds. Every piece of litter collected is a step towards a cleaner, greener Llanelli that we can all enjoy and be proud of.
