Projects from India to Africa - Rotary is world-wide.

Collecting warm clothes for war refugees

For the year 2022/23, four projects are ongoing, and the spectacles project is being run again.

PLUS: A 3-day warm clothes collection for people displaced from their homes by war in Europe amounted to many bags being handed to Edinburgh Direct Aid - 184 coats, 117 hats, and much else - showing what Rotary, with the help of the people of Dunbar, can achieve in a short time.

1) A joint project with the Youth Committee in support of the Primary School at Nimbong, near Kalimpong. This is a Photography competition for local children and is to be discussed further with the Youth Committee and local schools.

2)There is an ongoing project in support of the Vocational Training Centre in Kalimpong. We have received video reports from those involved in the project in Northeast India.

3) We plan a Bridge Evening in the autumn at a local venue to raise funds for international.

4) We may be involved in a Project with WaterAid - this is to be discussed further.

5) North Berwick Rotary Club spoke to President Elaine about collecting spectacles to send out to Africa. Lindsay's Opticians wondered if we would be interested. So the spectacle collection is under way. A Rotary Club down south processes the glasses and sends them out to Africa.
