We have supported RDA in Balerno for over 30 years.
Riding for the Disabled (RDA)
RDA is a national charity providing therapeutic support for disabled of all ages including children and recovering armed services personnel. They are provided with the opportunity to exercise on horseback. Local young people support the organisation, caring for riders and horses. We are fortunate to have a local group in Balerno.
Currie Balerno Rotary supports RDA both physically - helping on site with practical support - and financially. We have provided financial support for many years for various items and projects and we present an annual award for personal achievement in memory of former member Katja Wakelkamp, who sadly died after a long fight with cancer.
In 2016 Currie Balerno Rotary presented a commemorative bench marking the Club's support and respect for the wonderful contribution made by RDA to the local community.
