Rotary's Own Charity - The Rotary Foundation

The Rotary Foundation is Rotary’s own charity, supported solely by voluntary contributions. Members of Currie Balerno Rotary make regular personal contributions.

The Foundation offers health and welfare support to disadvantaged communities. Its priority areas are:

·      the prevention and treatment of disease;

·      the provision of safe water and improved sanitation and hygiene;

·      the enhancement of maternity and child health provision and especially the reduction of the child mortality rate;

·      the development of education and literacy; and

·      economic and community development.

Sustainability is always a prime objective, encouraging community responsibility for education, the training of professionals and the development of infrastructure.

The Rotary Foundation gives grants to Rotary Clubs for humanitarian projects, vocational training and scholarships. Currie Balerno Rotary has received many substantial grants over the years to support projects meeting the Rotary Foundation criteria.
