The annual Young Speaker competition, was held at Trinity Church, Westhill on 19 November. The event attracted 13 contestants from primary schools in Westhill, Dunecht, Echt and Skene and it was well supported by families and friends.
The competitors selected a good range of topics, which included ice skating, gems and minerals, bullying, family history topics, the Dogs' Trust, local use of zebra crossings and a few others
Mr Ian Reid the adjudicator, complimented the speakers on their high standard of presentations and said his task was a difficult one in finding a winner. After some deliberation, he selected Jenna Rolfe from Crombie Primary as the winner, whose subject was Cats ( Musical ) and the runner-up Craig Buckett from Skene Primary, whose subject was Scouting.
Westhill Rotary President Jim Arbuckle presented the winner with a shield, gift tokens to the winner and runner-up and certificates to all the competitors.
Many thanks to all the Rotarians who came out to help at and support the event.
