28 February 2014 - Club visits Chiltern Youth Club, part of our investment in the community

.

Amersham Rotary Club recently made a donation to Chiltern Youth Club to enable the purchase of some new equipment to assist in their valuable work supporting local youngsters, some of whom come from very disadvantaged backgrounds.

Rotarians Barbara Cursley, Mike Armstrong, Pat Armstrong and Terry Neale, who is also a volunteer at the Youth Club, visited the Club on Friday 28th February to see the members enjoying various activities.

We were able to see the new equipment, including tables to enable board games such as chess being played in a quiet area away from the noisy indoor activities elsewhere, and also the extra kitchen equipment which can provide snacks and hot drinks.   This is a valuable asset, as some of the young people come to the Club without a main meal.

The Club is run by a mixture of young and older Youth Leaders who give up their time on a Friday evening to give local young people a safe and stimulating place of their own and we were pleased to observe the valuable work and would like to congratulate the organisers on providing such an inspiring service.
