Stokesley Rotary Walk for Water

The Rotary Club of Stokesley was founded in 1980 and comprises members who volunteer their skills and expertise across a variety of areas to activate diverse programmes which benefit the local and international communities. Before COVID, the Club met on Tuesday evenings in the Blacksmith’s Arms in Swainby. Now we meet every week, sometimes on Zoom, with frequent walks, visits, events and the occasional group drinks evening, barbeque or evening meal (currently outdoors).Guests and prospective members are always welcome. (stokesleyrotary.org).

Rotary is a worldwide network of people who support their local communities and international projects, to improve the lives of people in these communities. Over the years we have raised and distributed many tens of thousands of pounds and instigated hundreds of home and overseas projects. There are almost 50,000 Rotarians in Great Britain and Ireland and over 1.2 million world-wide.

“Our programme is aimed at enriching community lives while raising money for a range of local and international charities,” explained Club President, Peter Chandler. We frequently invite speakers to our Zoom meetings, usually related to our objective of providing service to others, but sometimes of general interest. We also have an ongoing programme of outside visits and community projects.

The programme’s annual calendar includes a giant Bank Holiday Car Boot Fair in Stokesley (well, maybe next year !!) the Classics On Show vintage car rally, which on 7 August 2021 saw over 2500 visitors and 700+ vehicles on display on Stokesley Showground (www.classicsonshow.co.uk), and a charity quiz, which in the past has raised substantial funds for local charities.

This website has information about what we do, and if you have the time why not take a look at the Programme options to see what we have done in the past, and what we have planned for the future?
