22 Jan 2015: Visit to 6 Btn REME, Tidworth: A group of members and guests enjoyed a wonderful day's visit to 6 REME at Tidworth, Hungerford's "adopted" Battalion.

The visit included a presentation on the work and structure of 6 Btn REME, followed by a splendid lunch all cooked in a field kitchen. In the afternoon we split into small groups to be shown the work and equipment of REME - everything from small arms to the enormous tracked rescu vehicles.

The group was very grateful to Col Mike Dorward for arranging the day, and form all the officers and soldiers who made the day so special.  Follow this link for more

16 Dec 2014: Whistle Down the Wind - A Spectacular Success! A spectacularly fantastic performance was how Hungerford Rotary Club President James Podger described a recent production of Andrew Lloyd Webbers Whistle Down the Wind at the Arlington Arts Centre. This major fund raising project for Mary Hare School was a joint venture between Hungerford Rotary Club and the Community of Hungerford Theatre Company. Enthusiastic audiences enjoyed three performances of the sparkling production with its stars and large cast of children; the proceeds of which were a staggering 6,500. Robin Dudney, Chairman of Rotarys Youth Committee, which managed the project, was quick to point-out that the success of the venture was due to the hard work put in over many months by his team and to the contributions of many other members of the Hungerford Rotary Club. He also thanked Arlington Arts Centre where the performances were staged and Hungerford Theatre Companys chairman, David Clayton, for an outstanding production. Those people who missed the show at Arlington Arts will be able to catch it in February 2015 at the John O'Gaunt School in Hungerford.

16 Aug 2014: BBQ and Duck Race: Many congratulations to Keith Haddrell and his International team for producing such a successful evening at the Duck Race. 110 punters. 8 races. 48 sponsored ducks with a raffle and lots of fun added over a 1,500 to the donation, which will be given to the Mary Hare School for the Deaf and Young People. The evening, though led by the International Committee, was very much a Rotary Club event with contributions to the food and table decorations from the ladies, as well as help from the men setting up the event and manning the BBQs. The weather stayed fine, the wine flowed, and the food got eaten. I dont think anyone made a fortune on the betting, which was hardly surprising considering the odds that treasurer Graeme was offering.  There was a lot of laughter in the marquee making for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Well done to every one. Two new members were inducted (Fiona Poole and Barnaby Smith), and during the evening the official handover of ocfficers took place, the President's Badge being passed to James Podger.
