Young Artist Competition

The children have the chance to express their ideas through any artistic medium other than photography, to interpret a given theme, to use their artistic skill, imagination and creativity.

Winner 2022

The 2023 Dacorum Young Artist Competition was co-sponsored by the Club, together with Berkhamsted Rotary Club, The Arts Society Gade Valley and Ashridge DFAS.  The competition, now in its 9th year, was open to Year 4 & 5 students in Dacorum Borough and featured work from 22 schools in the district.  There were 650 entries, a record.

Best Overall first was "Eagle Owl" by Leon, Boxmoor School, Best Overall 2nd was "Abstract" by Cayson, Woodfield School, Best Overall 3rd was "Seashore" by Toby, Berkhamsted Prep School.  Judges selected one piece from each of the 22 schools as "Best In School".  

The judges included leading local artist Mary Casserley and Joan Fisher, representative of Open Door, Berkhamsted.  A spokesperson for Dacorum Young Artist said; "The standard was exceptionally high and the attendance was the best we've ever seen".

Exhibition and prize giving was held in Ashlyns School on 29th April and was well attended.  The Guest of Honour, Deputy Lord-Lietenant of Hertfordshire Jo Connell OBE, presented trophies to the Best in School entrants and the Best Overall awards.
