Restorative Justice - Jenny Sadgrove

Thu, Jul 9th 2015 at 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

A presentation by the wife of the Dean of Durham - one of of our honorary members.

This must have been a unique occasion in the history of the Club - a joint presentation by a victim of burglary and the perpetrator who have become firm friends in a spirit of real reconciliation as a result of the Restorative Justice programme initiated by Durham County Constabulary.

Mrs Sadgrove (the victim) was accompanied by Dave Clark (the thief) and together they gave us an informative and, at times, quite moving talk.  They explained how Dave had been able to completely turn his life around with support from both the police and Mrs Sadgrove.

Mike Barton, Chief Constable of the Durham police, had referred to Dave as a "premier league villain" - read what was reported in the Northern Echo in November 2014.

Have a look at this item in the archives of the Durham Times.
