The Rotary Club of Dundee celebrated the work of younger generations with its youth day.
There was also a special welcome to pupils from SS Peter & Paul Primary School, where the first Rotakids club has been formed.
Catriona Patrick, president of Dundee Rotaract gave a review of the club’s busy year in which important funds were raised for its chosen charity, Maggie’s Centre.
David Nkansah from the High School of Dundee Interact Club gave an account of their year in which they celebrated their 30th anniversary, making them the oldest interact club in the UK
High School Interacters charitable efforts during the year were directed to the Terence Higgins Trust and Wateraid.
Stephen McFarlane of St John’s RC High School Interact Club listed the many activities they have undertaken during the year. Among the causes they have supported are the Ninewells Hospital Tulip Suite and the Dundee Dragons Wheelchair Club. Further afield, the school has an Indian village project which they visit each year and is setting up a twinning arrangement with a school in Florida.
Michaela Lennon and Kirsten Johnson represented Morgan Academy Interact Club whose activities culminated with raising more than £2,700 for Children in Need.
Graham McKenzie of Menzieshill Interact Club spoke of their year where support was given to Macmillan Nurses, Dundee Dragons and a most impressive £7,800 for Go Africa.
President Robert Dunn presented of the clubs with Presidential citations to mark their achievements and cheques for £250 to distribute to their chosen charities in return for all their hard work at the club’s Oktoberfest
Youth convener Tim Baker commended all the clubs for their efforts over the year and said it was a pleasure to work with them. It was always a delight to attend the clubs’ meetings and hear of their work, and he added: “I have the best job in Rotary.”
