Lunch Meeting - David Overton, The David Ross Education Trust

Wed, Oct 14th 2015 at 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

David is a governor and deputy chair with the David Ross Education Trust. Today he talked about the current status of the trust and some of his experiences working alongside some high profile trustees such as the current chairman David Blunkett.

David Ross founded the David Ross Foundation in 2006. It believes that “every child and young person has passions and talents” and that its intention is to "help them discover their strengths by offering them a wide range of world class educational opportunities". The first academy, Havelock was sponsored in 2007 and then with the addition of its second academy, Malcolm Arnold Academy, in September 2010, the Trust acquired multi-academy status. Since then a host of primary and secondary academies across the East Midlands, East of England and Yorkshire & Humberside have become part of the Trust, totalling 33 educational establishments.

Rotarian Martyn Turner thanked David for an interesting talk, and commented that he didn’t realise how large the trust had become - a thought reflected by the majority of the audience.
