The Great North Air Ambulance - Janet Hume

Thu, Oct 8th 2015 at 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Janet told us something of the work of this "Great" organization.

GNAA

She was pleased to tell us that the helicopters now carry blood so that the on-board doctor can administer transfusions when needed at the site of accidents.  This is a development in conjunction with the Blood Bikes charities in Northumbria and Cumbria.

We were a little surprised to hear that GNAA now has two Rapid Response cars carrying paramedics or doctors to complement the work of the helicopters.

It's good to see that the GNAA is one of our headline charities at this year's Swimathon.

We - all of us - never know when we may need the Air Ambulance!
