2015 Windgather Fell Race ("˜Andrew Heywood Memorial Windgather"™)

148 runners completed the course

Buxton Rotarians and Inner Wheel Club of Buxton members supported 148 runners at the Windgather Fell Race on Sunday 11 October, commencing 11 am at Burbage Institute. The race, which has attracted over 200 runners from across the country, was organised and managed since 2006 by late member, Andrew Heywood, who responded to local fell runners' request to start the annual race after they ran the course of his 2005 Goyt Valley Walk to raise money for a grain mill in Malawi. The Race has been renamed ‘Andrew Heywood Memorial Windgather’ in his memory and was held through the auspices of Macclesfield Harriers, with Buxton Rotarians organising on-the-ground support and refreshments etc. For full race results click RESULTS. Many thanks to Mike Starzec of Vardells  for providing the prizes. With monies from previous Fell races being contributed, £2,250 was raised overall! The Race will now be managed annually by Macclesfield Harriers with Rotary Club of Buxton assistance. 2016's Race is on the 3rd Sunday in October i.e. 16/10/2016.
