Bowes Museum - Jane Whittaker

Thu, Oct 29th 2015 at 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Dr Jane Whittaker is the Head of Collections at Bowes Museum

Bowes Museum

Dr Whittaker gave us an excellent presentation at this evening meeting.  She outlined the history and development of this unique building - a purpose-built museum in the style of a French chateau in the depths of the south-west Durham countryside.  As we had hoped, Dr Whittaker rounded off her talk with some facts, figures and images of the recent exhibition of the collection of Yves Saint-Laurent fashions.  This was the first of its kind in the UK and has been acclaimed both nationally and internationally with an unprecedented increase in the number of visitors to the museum.

Check out the museum's website.
