Thornhill resident Mrs Wilson was the lucky winner of the grand Christmas Hamper raffle prize at the recent Bonfire and Family Fireworks event held in Thornhill.

The annual event organised by the Rotary Club of Thornhill and District was a great success despite the awful weather in the days and hours leading up to the display. The large audience were not only treated to a wonderful fireworks extravaganza but were able to tuck in to burger rolls courtesy of local businesses - Dennis Thomsan, food service supplier and Marchbanks (Bakers).

The event was also supported by Thornhill Community Council and Thornhill Community Centre.

President Gordon Steele of Thornhill Rotary said ‘I must thank the large number of families from the area who supported this event once again. Like many years in the past it has been touch ’n' go whether we are going to have a dry weather slot but again our luck was in. I am also most grateful to our sponsors who helped us to get the show on the road and to our own professionally trained fireworks technicians who managed to pull off a great show despite an initial technical hiccup.’
