Sportive funds supports Killie Can Cycles

Cheque presentation to Killie Can Cycles

Cheque presentation

Rotary Colleagues,

Please find attached a photo of the handover of the £1000 cheque to Killie Can Cycle.  They had arranged the presentation to take place in the East Ayrshire Council Offices where we were hosted by the Provost, Councillor Jim Todd.

They were absolutely delighted to receive the cheque. The timing could not have been better because the area of Shortlees in Kilmarnock (where Killie Can cycle is located) is currently in line for ‘Our Place’ locality funding and Killie Can Cycle hopes to benefit by having an extension built to their present cramped accommodation.  The money will help pay for the production of a full development plan which is necessary to release further funds to bring the project to fruition.

It appears our event has also motivated East Ayrshire Council to hold its own sportive event in September next year, a closed-road event with a target of 6000 riders.
