Sarah Perris introduces Julian Gilding from the RFU

Sarah Perris introduced Julian Gilding who is an accredited Rugby Football Union (RFU)
Community Rugby Coach.
Julian explained that he is attached to Crewe and Nantwich Rugby Club but coaches at many levels
throughout Cheshire including schools, clubs, universities, children and adults.He coaches at all age
groups and includes non-contact or touch rugby now simply known as "Touch".
He is originally from the London area, where he played at Harlequins and Rosslyn Park, and
retrained as a coach and has been in the Nantwich area for ten years.
Sarah's daughters started playing Touch coached by Julian and they subsequently played for
England. Julian himself played Touch for the England over forties in the Touch World Cup in
Australia last year and told us of his experiences at that tournament.
Julian explained that on Tuesday evenings up to thirty people meet at the local Touch Club where
games are played by a mixture of sexes and age groups including a 72 year old from Congleton
with a replacement hip. There is hope for some of us yet.
