Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) 2018

RYLA is a leadership development programme run by Rotary for young adults. Our club has been sponsoring local youngsters on this programme for many years.

For our District RYLA is conducted over a weekend at The Bowles Centre, near Tunbridge Wells https://bowles.rocks/

Over the course of the weekend participants:

·         Gain exposure to leadership scenarios

·         Explore problem solving strategies as part of a team

·         Have the chance to build their confidence in what they can achieve

·         Learn more about Rotary and its projects in the community and internationally

The unlocking of young peoples’ potential is one of the key aims of Rotary.  In furtherance of this Rotary Herne Bay sponsored three participants of RYLA in October 2018.  All three of the year’s participants were Year 10 students at Herne Bay High School.

On 28th November 2018 our three participants, and their parents, were guests at our Club’s evening meeting.  The three young adults gave a presentation of their experience at the RYLA weekend.  The Club was delighted to hear that they felt they had gained much from the weekend.  All three said they would recommend others, if given the chance, to grasp the opportunities for self development offered by the RYLA experience.

2019.  We have again sponsored three participants,  who visited us during November and entertained us with tales of how they got on!.
