Liz Southall speaking on Red Shift - Not just a Radio Station!

Stewards :- Peter Mascarenhas - Lead & 2nd Steward Sarah Perris ( Speakers Report)

Liz Southall, who started up Redshift Radio just over five years ago came to speak to our Club about the amazing progress this wonderful community radio station has made in that time.  Many of us had no idea of the reach of the station or the very many ways in which it contributes both to individuals and organisations alike.  Who knew that they have provided both work experience and training to over 350 eight -18 year olds?  Or that have notched up over 32,000 Volunteer Hours, which is equivalent to nearly half a million pounds - £500,000 worth of paid hours given freely to the community.

In addition, their support of the community in terms of hosting and supporting events such as The Nantwich Show and South Cheshire Big Day Out has racked up over 650 hours of Liz and her team’s time; free of charge.

It is easy to forget that we have people in our community who struggle to get work - for many and varied reasons:  here again Liz has been an incredible help - to over 60 people with additional needs or who are long-term unemployed.  Redshift Radio is a huge asset to the communities of Crewe and Nantwich and the Rotary Club is fortunate to have a regular - free - programme slot called Rotary Round-Up every Thursday from 1 – 2pm.
