District Governor Andy Ireland was the guest speaker at last night's meeting of the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw. He brought best wishes from the Rotary International President, K R Ravindran. He said fellowship is fundamental in Rotary and within fellowship comes friendship and fun. Consequently, a high quality of Service is achieved and this is where, the District Governor believes, District 1020 excels. He asked Rotarians to have fun this year, while continuing to meet the challenges of the year head on, and, hopefully, we can look back, on this time with pride.
Jane Allan delivered her Presidential Address to the club. The RI President's theme for the year is "Be a gift to the world." Jane wants the members of Motherwell and Wishaw to "Be a gift to each other." In this the club's 85th year she wants to forge new partnerships with neighbouring club and communities and said that Rotary needs Rotarians not just members.
Charles Keeper reported on the Club's success in the first round of the District Quiz when a team of Bill McCallum, Andrew Steven, Willie Talbot and Charles Keeper travelled to Lockerbie and defeated the home club 29 -12 with the team even answering a Rotary question!!
