2nd Carlisle Community Health Mela

Saturday 13 May 2017

The Community Health Mela (or Fair) is a friendly, festival with entertainment and activities.

The day centred on a series of “Streets” set up in the City Centre. These “Streets” allowed a wide range of Health & Wellbeing activities to take place under the following headings

  • Health Advice and support (both statutory and non-statutory)
  • Listening Therapies
  • Complementary Therapies
  • Healthy Food and Cooking
  • Gardening
  • Exercise
  • Entertainment and Music

A key element of the day was  the “Health Olympics”. An opportunity for visitors to have a Health MOT with appropriate advice and signposting.

We worked with local groups and organisations in the weeks before the event to encourage involvement including work with local schools.

Brampton & Longtown Rotary Club also worked with several local sports/exercise groups to arrange for a number of activities to be scheduled during the day.
