The Community Health Mela (or Fair) is a friendly, festival with entertainment and activities.
The day centred on a series of “Streets” set up in the City Centre. These “Streets” allowed a wide range of Health & Wellbeing activities to take place under the following headings
A key element of the day was the “Health Olympics”. An opportunity for visitors to have a Health MOT with appropriate advice and signposting.
We worked with local groups and organisations in the weeks before the event to encourage involvement including work with local schools.
Brampton & Longotwn Rotary Club also worked with several local sports/exercise groups to arrange for a number of activities to be scheduled during the day.
The event allowed all visitors to have a family day out to enjoy, learn and pick up useful tips to lead a healthy, enjoyable and long life.
This years stands / entertainment included CADAS, Carlise Key, Carlisle Library, Creative Wellbeing Workshops, Diabetes UK, DW Sports, Fair Meals Direct, Foodbank, Water Street Garden Group, Eden Valley Hospice, Happy Mums Foundation (Post Natal Depression), Health Olympics, Heathlands Project, Hospice at Home, John Crouch Healthy Cooking, Laughter Aspirations, Macmillan Cancer Support,NHS Diabetic Eye Screening Programme, NHS Podiatry Service, NW Ambulance Service General, NWAST - CPR Teams, Oasis Dental Practice, Prostate / Testicular Cancer - Mens Health, Rotary International, Rotary Iron Lung, Smoothy Bike, Spirit of Carlisle, Sustainable Carlisle, TicToc, Walking for health - Carlisle City Council, Bespoke Minds, Five Senses Spa, Cumbria County Council Waste Prevention, Well Done Solutions Mobility Chair Awareness, Unity, Jigsaw pshe.
