"What We Do" 2015-2016/ Charlene's Special Delivery
It's not every day that a club member drops into the club on their way home from hospital after given birth to a bouncing baby boy.
It’s not every day that members of Thornhill and District Rotary Club welcome a member who drops into the club on their way home from hospital and it’s certainly not everyday that a member drops in having given birth to a bouncing baby boy the previous evening. But that’s exactly what bubbly Thornhill Rotarian Charlene Fry-Henderson did recently.
Rotarian Charlene explains ‘I was on the way home from hospital. I was feeling really peckish and I also felt a large cool glass of wine would be just the thing after nine months of abstinence. So it was an opportunity not to be missed’.
This was Charlene’s second child and the newly born Fergus was left in the very capable hands of dad Daniel.
Charlene is known to many as a local business woman with hairdressing salons in Dumfries and Thornhill.
Rotary Club President Gordon Steele said ‘We were absolutely delighted that Charlene dropped into the meeting but it certainly took us all by surprise to say the least. We all wish Charlene and her family all the best for the future’.
Picture shows Charlene, with her much anticipated glass of wine with President Gordon examining her hospital identity band still on her wrist.
