Tomorrow's Leaders In The Making

"I can't thank-you enough for the fantastic opportunity you gave me by sponsoring me for that trip. It was amazing" Chloe

Chloe recently participated in the RYLA course for which she was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Torrington.

I'm writing to thank the Rotary club for their generous sponsorship. The course held at Okehampton Bracken Tor was a great week filled with activities which were not only physically but mentally challenging as well.

The week made me realise that I can do much more and I have now entered my first half-marathon at the Eden Project in mid-October. The RYLA course has made me gain some amazing friendships which i hope to keep for life and can't thank you enough for the sponsorship which has opened many new wonderful opportunities in my future.

Rotary Youth Leader Award is a leadership development programme. RYLA events are typically 3–10 days long and include presentations, activities, and workshops that cover a variety of topics, including:

  • Leadership fundamentals and ethics
  • Communication skills
  • Problem solving and conflict management
  • Community and global citizenship

Locally, it is run annually on Dartmoor for a group of teenagers sponsored by Rotary clubs. This year we sponsored Chloe and Tanisha.
