Bernard Barton-Ancliffe (Tales of a Travelling Man)

A very pleasant evening was spent with Bernard, who started the talk describing the state of the present Armed forces, whom he was very anxious about, regarding our world status. He felt that we were very much understrength.

Moving on to his actual talk, he described at length his travels through the Battlefields of the American Civil war, giving us a very accurate and detailed account of what took place where and when.

He then moved on to his very interesting travels through parts of India, describing the various parts he had visited and the people he had met.  All accompanied with some very beautiful photographs.

Finally he entertained us with his time spent in Iraq after the war.  When he was stationed there with the coalition forces that oversaw the transition to the Iraqi Army. As the talk had overrun a little, the President decided that there would be no questions, but hinted that it would perhaps be another evening in the future for him to continue with the rest of his tales…………

Colin Harvey.
