Dnipro Kids

Dnipro Kids was established in 2005 by Stevie Carr and a group of Hibernian supporters who started a charitable collection for a local orphanage in Dnipropetrovsk after visiting the city for a UEFA Cup Qualifier.

With the war in Ukraine, Dnipro Kids arranged for a group of kids and their carers to come to safety in Scotland while the war continues.

Leith Rotary donated £800 to help fund this timely intervention.

Empowering Girls

International Rotary President Shektar Mehta’s has designated ‘empowering girls’ as the major theme for his presidency.  In Leith Rotary we are working to set-up a training programme aimed at supporting young women and men in developing healthy emotional, social and sexual relationships.

We feel strongly that young men should be involved in this programme.  Too often programmes focus only on girls and women with the goal of keeping themselves safe and usually through negatives: don’t walk in certain areas at night, don’t wear ‘inappropriate’ clothing, don’t walk out at night alone etc.  Boys and men need to take responsibility for actions that endanger girls and women.

We are working with The Citadel and SHE Scotland to mount a programme to start in September.

Dockers’ Club Gig

Leith Rotary will be running a gig in Leith Dockers’ Club on Sunday 9th October from 4 to 8pm.  Chil have agreed to play.  All welcome.
