Area Finals of the Young Chef 2016

Kirkcudbright Academy and Rotary hosted this years Area finals of the Rotary Young Chef 2016


Kirkcudbright Rotary Club, hand in hand with Kirkcudbright Academy Home Economics Department, once again worked together to host the 2016 - 2017 Rotary Young Chef Area Final held on Tuesday 15th November at Kirkcudbright Academy. Their efforts were rewarded this year with ten Young Chefs taking part. All these young people qualified as winner and runner-up in their own Club Young Chef competitions, . All those organisers, teachers and Rotarians present were hugely impressed by the professional approach, the smart appearance and the cool and calm way all of the Young Chefs went went about their tasks.

The competition was judged by local 'celebrity' chefs Tom Kirkpatrick and Paul Wilkinson. All the Young Chefs taking part were presented with participation certificates by Kirkcudbright Rotary Club President, Chris Ingram before both the winner, Morag Stewart from the Thornhill Club and the runner-up, Alice Maxwell from the Dalbeattie Club, were presented with signed copies of the Super Food Family Cookbook. Both will now go through to the Rotary District Young Chef Final on Saturday 4th February at West Lothian College in Livingston.
