A congregation of over 50 Rotarians, friends and family, swelled by local parishoners, attended a Christmas carol service on December 18th. This year’s event was held in the delightfully simple surroundings of Escomb Church, with the service conducted by the parish vicar, Elisheva Mechanic. Towards the end of the service, many of us were handed out improvised instruments, with John Yeomans revealing an uncanny ability to extract a tune from a fruit crate. Sometimes talent can lay buried for years…

Following the carol service, most of the congregation adjourned to the Saxon Inn to sooth their voice boxes with mulled wine and top up their seasonal intake of mince pies.

Many thanks must go to David Appleton for organising the service so smoothly and to Paul Hope of the Saxon Inn for his hospitality.
