Seven members, Pres. James Gibbons, P.E. Andrew Murray, Jane Allan, Des Donnelly, Bill McCallum, Jim Peat and Willie Talbot, made the journey to Dullatur Golf Club.
We enjoyed an excellent evening with good food and hospitality.
The speakers were Billy Lees, Chair of Cumbernauld Community Forum, and Rosalyn Griffiths, of North Lanarkshire Council, and their topic was the British Transplant Games, being hosted in North Lanarkshire from the 27th to 30th July.
The Games will be held at venues spread across N.L. and all events are free to attend. It is estimated that there will be 12,000+ athletes (aged from 2 – 80), 14,000+ supporters and that £2M of economic impact will be generated.
As always, with this type of activity, success depends on the level of volunteers who assist and this is being coordinated by Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL) and anyone interested can contact them through www.voluntaryactionnorthlanarkshire.org.uk
