Volunteering

Club Members perform a range of different volunteering activities in the local community.

These range from helping local children with their reading to litter picking to taking kids out on the Annual 'Kids Out' Trip to Sewerby Park.

Disability Games at The Pods in Scunthorpe

The Rotary District Disability Games, held in April at The Pods in Scunthorpe is a very special event. This year we took a team of 25, many of whom are regular competitors, eagerly anticipating the event.  We had a very successful day with our team members taking part in archery, rifle shooting ,weightlifting, boccia, darts, kurling and snooker and returning home with nine trophies for winner or runner-up. Two of our successful competitors are shown receiving their trophies.

Rotary Kids Out

Kids Out is held in June, with children from Swinemoor School enjoying a day at Sewerby Hall and Gardens.  The zoo is always a favourite, as are the ice creams at the end of the day, before bussing back to Beverley.  The school encourages the children to write to us after the event - Click here to see a selection of their delightful letters.

Volunteer 'Listen to a Child Read'

We have a long standing close relationship with our 'adopted' school, Swinemoor Primary where we offer help with literacy and mentoring.  Rotarians make regular visits to the school to help children with their reading skills
