GATEWAY GAMES AT BROCKENHURST COLLEGE

Sat, Sep 30th 2017 at 10:15 am -

An annual event for Gateway Clubs from a wide area and enormous fun. Pub lunch at 'half time'. .

On Saturday 30 September a team of New Forest Rotarians helped out at the Annual Inter-Gateway Games at Brockenhurst College Sports Hall. Our numbers were reduced because of another Rotary event on the same day but we spent a thoroughly enjoyable morning judging and scoring the various events, went for a quick lunch in a local pub and then hurried back for more. Nine teams of Gateway members came from a wide area, including Andover, Eastleigh and of course Brockenhurst.
The enthusiasm of the competitors was infectious and the noise in the hall could probably be heard all over the village.
The eventual winners were Brockenhurst Black Dogs and the winners of the New Forest Rotary Cup for best team spirit were Winchester . Congratulations
Everybody left tired but happy - every competitor clutching a medal.
Ken Garrod and Sue had played a major part in organising the event and I hear that they went home and went straight to sleep.

Thanks to Ken and Sue, Jim and Beryl Knight, Richard and Carole Blaylock, Bridget Gook, John Robiunson, Jeremey Taylor and George Stephens.
