Lynne Cameron, Head of Financial Crime, Banking Operations at Tesco Bank, will address the Club.
H&R: Tom McPherson & John McDonald
VoT: David McLeod

Tonight was special for the members of the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw as the members honoured our longest serving Rotarian, Past President John Chapman, who was inducted into the Rotary Club fifty years ago. Rotarian and friend, Past President Hughes Lumsden gave a brief insight into John's long association with Rotary. President Andrew Murray presented John with his 50th year citation, and, in addition, John, who is already has a Paul Harris Fellowship, received an enhanced Paul Harris Jewel encrusted with three sapphires. A special cake was presented to mark the occasion.

Our guest speaker was Lynne Cameron, Head of Financial Crime, Banking Operations at Tesco Bank, who comes from Biggar. In her role she responsible for managing a team of around 250 people focused on Anti Monetary Laundering (AML) and Fraud from both an operational, systems and strategy perspective.

She is responsible for AML and Fraud across all products that Tesco Bank offers, Credit Cards, Current Accounts, Savings, Loans and Mortgages. Appointed in 2013, she was responsible for setting up the fraud operations team, building the operating model and managing fraud losses whilst leading the team through Credit Card migration and the launch of Mortgages and Current Account projects. She went on to give examples of the various scams that the banks and the individual customers have experienced. Her advice was that if the contents of an email or text looked too good to be true, then, in all likelihood, it was a scam. Her current focus is more strategic, building upon the solid foundations, to help the business grow fraud capability and ensure that the approach to financial crime remains current. Lynne responded to a number of questions, followed by David McLeod proposing the vote of thanks.

Past President Charles Keeper was the winner of the weekly bonus ball.
