Jane Allan was the fifth speaker of the summer programme of the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw.
Jane reminded the members that her career, over many years, has been in nursing and she had already addressed the Club on this topic.
She said that, rather than boring us again, she would speak to us on a subject that should be of interest to the male Members – Knowing Your Prostate.
Jane advised that prostate cancer is the most prevalent cancer, among males, in Scotland. Going on to give details of the symptoms which can signal that investigation is necessary, Jane stressed that, in some cases, prostate cancer can develop without any obvious symptoms being apparent and she recommended that Members should consider having a simple blood test should they be in any way concerned. Handouts from Prostate Cancer UK were provided for everyone present.
