39 Rotarians and two guests – Terry Bate, Assistant District Governor, and Richard Dyke (RC Otter Valley) attended the meeting at the Cricket Club.
Before the meeting began the Outgoing President Colin congratulated the Janes on their 60th Wedding anniversary and members sent their congratulations and best wishes to David and Brenda.
The Handover: Outgoing President Colin reviewed his year as President and
identified the most memorable events that had occurred in a busy year. Colin
then handed over to the incoming President, Keith Bigwood (‘Not much of a talker!’). Keith then updated
the Club on his choice of charities for his year in office – Somerset Sight and
TOG (Taunton Opportunity Group).
The Chairs of the main Committees then outlined their plans for the coming year
– Community Service, the Halcon Project, Communications, International Service,
and Vocational Service. Some specific activities were also addressed – the Ruiri
Project is underway; the Golf Day is imminent; and liaison between our Club and
Mother Club is improving with a joint stand at the Flower Show.
Terry Bate, ADG, thanked the Club for our hospitality and wished us well in our
extensive range of activities in the coming year. She complimented the Club on
our local and International projects and said that we had ticked all the boxes
on her check list.
