Kathyrn, President Elect, welcomed 34 Club
Members, plus one visitor - Richard Dyke of Otter Valley Rotary Club - to the
meeting. However, looking at one completely empty set table, she advised the
meeting that 8 Club Members had not apologised for their absence.
The main purpose of the meeting was the Moonraker Briefing for our biggest
annual event. Stuart advised that the current number of booked teams was 55 -
now 57 this morning - with the possibility of more by the weekend -a great
result. Bill Tregillus gave a comprehensive briefing that brought everyone
up-to-date on their responsibilities on the night, with an anticipated start
time of around 4:30pm. He has issued a list of the allocated roles for the 53
Rotarians, partners, family and friends supporting the event.
Alison Brown gave an update on Rotary support for Kerala, with a very positive
personal letter, and in Indonesia and the Plillipines. As ever, Shelterboxes
are a key part of the support for the victims of floods, earthquakes, and
tsunamis.
Next Meetings- both at SCCC. October 15th: Speaker -John Binns, D/R Kate
Taylor, S/F Michael Cooper. October 22nd: Talk on refugees in Somerset.
