We are pleased that the Dementia Information Hubs launched by the Carlisle Dementia Action Alliance and Brampton & Longtown Rotary Club in February 2019 are restarting. From October 2021 the sessions alternate between Longtown Community Centre and the Moot Hall Brampton on the 3rd Tuesday of every month between 1.30 pm and 2.30pm. See poster below for actual dates.
The Information Hub is for those already living with Dementia and their carers. It also supports those concerned about living with dementia and want to find out more.
The Hub provides a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where members of the local community can share their thoughts, concerns and ideas. They can spend time with those in a similar position to themselves and take advice from a range of local organisations and professionals such as Alzheimer’s Society, Age UK and the local NHS Memory Team.
Rotarian Kevin Walsh and Chair of the Carlisle Dementia Action Alliance said “As we work towards making Carlisle and the surrounding towns and villages more Dementia Friendly Communities, we understand that we need to identify the needs of those living with dementia and their carers. We hope that by setting up these Information Hubs we can help them shape a range of supportive services in the area.”
Brampton & Longtown Rotary are registered with Dementia Friends as an organisation that is working towards supporting more dementia friendly communities. Our members have attended a Dementia Friends information session, and we have two members who are Dementia Champions (trainers).
