Fr Jim Hayes. Born in Glasgow in 1965, moving to Irvine in my early teens had ambitions to help others from an early age in the realm of Psychology or practically perhaps in Social Work but was diverted to the Seminary in 1985 before I explored those routes.
I have been amazed and surprised at every step of my vocational journey and particularly since my ordination in Irvine in 1993.Not one appointment has been requested or expected and in particular I never ever envisaged that I would travel extensively across the world in the line of duty.
The quip "you only work on Sundays" could not be further from the truth and I hope I can give a little slither of how that all pans out during the upcoming lunch and perhaps encourage and entice others to enter the ministry-there are many vacancies across all denominations!
