Rotary Christmas Shoeboxes

Spreading a little happiness at Christmas thanks to our local schools and supporters

We are extremely grateful to our local schools who have continued to support us, despite the curent difficulties, in our endeavours to donate brightly wrapped shoeboxes containing wonderful gifts to children with disabilities and those from socially vulnerable families, in Eastern Europe.

This year we have collected 228 boxes from local schools and friends of Rotary and have checked the contents to make sure they do not contain any disallowed objects.  A special thank you to Weston Park Blades Netball Club who made dontations sufficient to fill 20 boxes. An amazing effort!

On November 14th the boxes were taken to a local depot in Bournemouth. A total of 18,059 boxes were collected across the district and during the following month these will be transported by road to children in Romania, Moldova, Albania and Montenegro. We use Rotary Clubs in these countries, and other trusted partners, to distribute the boxes to the children in need. This year is especially difficult, because as well as delaing with the pandemic, they are having to support a number of refugee camps too.

Together we make children happy by bringing a little magic into their Christmas.
