Rotary Christmas Shoebox Scheme
Spreading a little happiness at Christmas
Working with our local schools and other supporters we send hundreds of brightly wrapped shoeboxes each year to children with disabilities, and those from socially vulnerable families, in Eastern Europe.
After we have collected the boxes from schools we check the contents to make sure they do not contain any disallowed objects, and then we transport them to a local depot where they are loaded onto delivery lorries. The boxes are then transported 1800 miles by road to Romania, Moldova, Albania and the Ukraine. We use Rotary Clubs in these countries, and other trusted partners, to distribute the boxes to the children in need.
Together we make people happy by bringing a little magic into their Christmas.
